One Year Old

Develops emerging coordination and balance. Says their name clearly. Demonstrates a desire to complete more complex tasks by self. Response to adult questions with answers.

Two Years Old

Starts to sort shapes and colors. Can find things hidden under multiple layers.
Completes sentences in familiar books. Plays simple make-believe games. Builds
towers with four or more blocks. Can follow two-step instructions. May start to develop a dominant hand.

Three Years Old

Can say their name and age. Can speak 250 to 500 words. Answer simple questions.
Speak in sentences of five to six words and speak in complete sentences by age 4. Speak
clearly, although they may not be fully comprehensible until age 4. Begin to tell stories.

Four Years Old

Begin to remember and sing songs. Can skip and hop on one foot. Catch and throw a
ball overhand. Walk downstairs alone. Can draw a person with three separate body
parts. Build a block tower with 10 blocks. Understand the difference between fantasy
and reality. Draw a circle and a square.

Five Years Old

Easily counts to 10. Names some numbers between 1 and 5 when you point to them.
Uses words about time, like “yesterday,” “tomorrow,” “morning,” or “night.” Can pay
attention for 5 to 10 minutes during activities. Writes some or all letters within their name.

Our Approach

The Callie’s Kids Child Care and Early Learning Center is a collaborative effort that exists with the assistance, leadership, and parentship of the faculty, staff, community, and each learner. Each Callie’s Kids stakeholder will have a “Say So” in achieving the mission and vision of the Center.
